Breast augmentation with implants gives a precise, predictable increase. Fat transfer suits a subtle change of about half to one cup if you have spare fat.

Often, yes. If your nipples sit at or below the breast fold, an implant alone may leave a drooping shape. A lift with an implant in the same operation can restore both position and fullness. It takes longer and may need a slightly longer stay. Your surgeon discusses whether one or two stages is safer for you. See breast lift for details.
It depends on what bothers you most. If heaviness, back or neck pain and strap grooves are the problem, a breast reduction is usually right, and it includes a lift. If you are happy with your size but not the position, a breast lift is more suitable. Your surgeon confirms the choice after examining you.
Most patients stay 5–8 days. Gynecomastia surgery is often about 5 days, and fat transfer 5–6 days. Augmentation takes 6–7 days, while a lift or implant removal takes about 7. Breast reduction usually needs 7–8 days. Reconstruction usually needs 7–10 days for implant or fat stages, and longer for flap surgery. Your surgeon checks you before confirming you are fit to fly.
Most people return to desk work after about one to two weeks. Men after gynecomastia surgery often return within 3–7 days, and reconstruction usually needs 2–3 weeks. Walking starts the same day or the next. Wear your support bra or compression garment as advised, usually for about six weeks. Full exercise, including upper-body training, typically resumes after four to eight weeks, depending on the procedure.
Good candidates are adults in good general health, at a stable weight, who do not smoke or can stop around surgery. It may be better to wait if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or expect to lose a lot of weight. An untreated breast lump or an uncontrolled medical condition should be checked first. Your surgeon may ask for a breast ultrasound or mammogram.
Many women breastfeed successfully after augmentation, particularly with an incision in the breast fold. After a lift or reduction, the nipple usually stays attached to the underlying tissue and some milk ducts. Breastfeeding cannot be guaranteed after any breast operation, though. If you plan a future pregnancy, tell your surgeon, so the technique can be planned with that in mind.
