Biography
Doç. Dr. Ali Durmuş was born in
Fevzipaşa, İslahiye, Gaziantep. Due to his father’s job, his primary education began at
Malatya Derme Primary School and was completed at Adıyaman Atatürk Primary School. He continued middle school at Taşova Atatürk Middle School and graduated high school as the third-ranked Gaziantep Kilis High School student.
Education and Early Career
Driven by his uncle’s influence in Çanakkale, Dr. Durmuş pursued his university education at Çanakkale Education Institute. He initially served as a teacher in Yukarı Tutak village in Diyadin, Ağrı, for mandatory service. After re-entering university exams, he was accepted into Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, where he completed his medical education in English. During university, Dr. Durmuş was active in extracurricular activities, participating in the ski and basketball teams and organizing social events such as the annual medical ball.

- İskenderun State Hospital: Dr. Durmuş served as the emergency department chief during his mandatory service.
- Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital: After passing the Medical Specialization Exam, he specialized in General Surgery, particularly in oncology and laparoscopic surgeries. He contributed to the development of advanced laparoscopic procedures in Turkey, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, reflux surgery, and colon and stomach cancer surgeries.
- 2015—Present: Dr. Durmuş has been an assistant professor at Nişantaşı University since 2015. In 2017, he founded Klinik Obezite, where he continues to perform advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgeries.
